For a sequel though I feel like a new cast would inherently bring a new feel to the game. I am not at all unhappy about the existing classes. Like lets say for instance the son of Reynauld who maybe grew up to be a monk? Or a half man half fish thing from the cove on a path of redemption (similar to the abomination). You could even have some classes based on the classes or enemies in game one. Like a mercenary, militiaman, gladiator or caravan guard. For straight military classes there's no end of potential. You could have a bear tamer do a cross between the jester and the houndmaster. Maybe a thief that works like the graverobber. Like let's say a witch that summons powers of nature (thorns, bees, heals) similar to the occultist. You could easily make a different set of characters that fulfill similar roles. It's just that I feel a bit same old same old with the same cast. The art and feel for each character is very good. There's not many gaps that I can see that they've left for other unique, useful heroes. I think Redhook did a really good job in covering such a wide range of characters. Was hoping for a new set of degenerates and scum to go fight evil with. What other sort of character would you like to see implemented? Nerak wrote: They’ve already revealed that it’s the same cast of characters. And TenCent and subsidiaries are shady enough that I'm not sure its unjustified. This isn't a reality yet, but clearly there is flirting with the idea. Like one or more countries banning TenCent, and therefor Epic, and losing access to anything you bought on the platform. They're paying for access to the audience, not profit, which raises questions about motivation.Īnd with recent talk about other companies (like the whole TikTok thing), there are other issues that may come up in the future. Some of the 'first hit is free' sales approaches also just rub me the wrong way. With no choice of where to buy a product, the seller has all the leverage. Doesn't necesssarily apply to DD2 ( afaik), but there were several games last year where the developers hung their backers out to dry for Epic money.ģ) Exclusives are inherently anti-consumer. There were a couple breaches of contracts there as far as I'm concerned. Especially the ones that were kickstarted and promised Steam and/or GOG keys as part of the Kickstarter. Its also can prioritize games based on how much Epic is paying, not if they're actually any good.Īnd yeah, games that were advertised elsewhere then pulled to be 'Epic Exclusives' was a crap move on the part of both Epic and the developers involved in that sort of crap. Its quite possible that some developers are going to run on Epic money, and then get the rug yanked out from underneath them in 3-5 years. It gives them an unspecified hold on these developers, and many small developers are desperate enough for money that they're not thinking through long term possibilities. This is both a matter of what data they have access to, what they're doing with it and the deals they're reaching with developers to put exclusives in on their platform. Security doesn't seem to be much of one either.Ģ) Shady dealings. Usability and access for the consumer side just isn't a concern. Yeah it's a bunch of monopolistically intended hypocrits.ġ) The storefront is awful. They bought Game released initially planned on steam out and made them exclusive.įor supposedly beeing pro developper they are not willing to lend a helping hand to indi game devs that would also prefer multi plattform releases, instead they gave that right to ubisoft whilest said indi dev got nothing, meanwhile they tout a holier then thou attitude especially torwards steam.įortnight, is the parade exemple of a life service blight with illegal childgambling via lootboxes, season passes, etc, whilest still touting they are gods gift to game devs and consumers. Instead of Building up a propper competitor plattform to Steam they throw money at gaming studios for exclusives. They brought the consol war like Monopolisation of Games to plattforms to the PC sphere. I know they're Chinese based, which is enough to dissuade me from using them, but aside from that, is there any real problem with them? Snrub wrote: What's the deal with Epic? I know a lot of people don't like it, but I don't know enough about them to really know why.
